Expense Tracker helps you and the people you choose track income, expenses, and shared group spending. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. We keep it plain: we do not sell your data, show you ads, or track you across other apps.
Expense Tracker (the “app”) is provided by Kalyani Kolimali (“we”, “us”). This policy applies to the Expense Tracker mobile app on iOS and Android and the cloud services that support it. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
To create and secure your account, you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. Through that sign-in we receive your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. With Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive Apple’s private relay address instead. We never see or store your Google or Apple password.
To provide the app’s features, we store the content you create, including:
Amounts are financial data you type in. We use them only to run the app’s tracking, splitting, and reporting features for you and the members of your households and groups.
Some preferences are kept locally on your device only — for example your reminder settings, appearance choice, selected currency, and which one-time tips or banners you have dismissed.
We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking, and we do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers for tracking. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which runs on Google’s cloud infrastructure. Access is controlled by security rules so that data is only readable by the account that owns it and the members it is shared with.
Your information is shared only in the ways the app is designed to work:
We do not share your personal information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
The app relies on these third parties to function:
These providers process your information under their own privacy policies and only to provide their service to us.
Reminders and budget alerts are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not sent from a server and are not used to track you. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
You control your data. You can edit or delete individual transactions, categories, budgets, reminders, and groups at any time within the app. Deleted content is removed from our database.
To delete your account and all associated data, use the account-deletion option in the app, or email us at the address below. When you delete your account we remove your profile and the data associated with it, except where we must retain limited information to comply with legal obligations. Note that content you shared into a group may remain visible to other members of that group.
We use the security features of Google Firebase — including encrypted connections and server-side access rules — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your data we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Expense Tracker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your information is stored on Google’s servers and may be processed in countries other than the one you live in. By using the app you consent to this processing in accordance with this policy.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a notice in the app. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
